I am involved in development and use of medical devices as Researcher
Bio
I am currently an Associate Professor. I am a deliberately interdisciplinary researcher, supervising graduate students and teaching in the Biomedical Engineering and Veterinary Medicine programs. Much of our work revolves around cellular and molecular biology and regenerative medicine, but I have a strong interest in the development of enabling technologies. My AggreWell platform for the large-scale production of organoids for research and clinical applications has been licensed to StemCell Technologies Inc. and is in widespread use internationally. I am a member of our BME Research Committee, former member of the BME Graduate Education Committee, and am involved with education planning in a new NSERC CREATE training program in pancreatic islet biology. Among other things, I am always interested to hear about useful challenges we can put in front of our students - a real-world situation plus input from people who understand the need combine to provide a much better training opportunity than a theoretical challenge.
