Bio

Nishant has experience in the domain of engineering and manufacturing to develop dynamically sound components using ALD (Analysis Led Design) methodologies which ensures the process flow from virtual design to actual prototype within the design model using proactive iterations. His research focuses on the development of a low cost and a functionally active compound finger mechanism to rectify the problem faced by conventional prostheses lacking the capability of adaptive grasp and pinch, that can be mounted on the amputee’s body considering the cosmetic and bionic appearance of the hand without any surgical procedure. Presently, he is working on the design and the development of a high fidelity prototype of the prosthetic hand as a Project Engineer at the Bio-Medical Research Lab. of IIT Kanpur, India. Nishant is an active research fellow for Engineering for Change (E4C) by ASME focussing on engineering for global development.
