Mimicking metastasis is a major engineering challenge, as it requires replicating each of the phases that define this phenomenon. Through the understanding of these biological requirements, it is possible to implement a static 2D system capable of recreating 3 stages of the metastatic process.
The proposed platform aims to replicate the tumor microenvironment and analyze the migration and proliferation phenomena of tumor cells, by performing a co-culture with healthy cells previously cultured within the same microfluidic system.
