My innovation entails using a simple bicycle leg pump to inflate the mattress that contains numerous air pockets with valves. There will be just two configurations which shall be running in a zigzag pattern in which the pockets will inflate in an alternating pattern which will reposition the patient and change air pressure at different points every time its pumped. The caretaker/nurse will have to pedal the pump at fixed intervals. A pressure sensor and a timer will be incorporated into the device to ensure optimum pressure is reached through the flicker of an LED, and after a fixed interval a buzzer will sound to alert the nurse that it is time to pedal the pump. These will be connected to a microcontroller(arduino) which will be uploaded with a simple program and powered by a dry cell.
