This medical device is a smart changing pad for children with age between 0 and 12 months which offers the possibility to measure weight and height of the child in a digital way. A carriage is included to ease the transport of the whole structure and its wheels are provided with a locking system in order to guarantee a safe and practical use of the device.
Weight evaluation is performed by 4 load cells located within the changing pad so that the acquisition is carried out efficiently not depending on the position of the child onto the pad.
An accessory camera is used to detect the height of the child by taking a picture that is later elaborated by the system to obtain the data. The camera is connected to the device by a USB port. The measurement depends on the proper positioning of the camera that has to correctly acquire the image.
The device features an internal microcontroller with a memory, therefore it is possible to monitor the growth of the child through changings in height and weight,as well as to detect growing-related disorders caused, for example, by wrong nutrition or diseases.
The locking system of the wheels is automated and is activated by pushing a pedal located on the base of the carriage.
The device is powered by a battery.
The smart changing pad is designed for domestic use,so it is particularly suitable to be easily used by any caregiver of the child with no specific skill required.
