Project description

COVID-19 can cause a pneumonia that may affect an individual’s ability to breathe on their own. Individuals can experience decreased oxygen saturation in their blood which can lead to serious illness. COVID-19 is also a highly infectious virus, so it is important that healthcare workers minimize unnecessary contact with patients to limit the transmission of disease.
This monitoring system can monitor multiple patients at the same time and transmit each patient’s data to a remote monitor that healthcare workers can access. Our low-cost patient monitoring system consists of a pulse oximeter sensor that transmits data from patients in acute care to healthcare workers outside of acute care rooms. This will reduce the amount of unnecessary contact that healthcare workers have with patients. The pulse ox sensor will monitor oxygen saturation of patients to track their respiratory health.
