- Velcro straps
The Velcro straps are designed to securely fasten the back posture device for core support, ensuring stability and adjustability during squatting exercises. We plan to use Polyester Hook and Loop Fasteners due to their durability, strength, and flexibility.
These Velcro straps are made from 100% polyester with an 8 mil monofilament construction and 324 hooks per square inch, providing a high shear strength of 12,000 grams per square inch (approximately 26 lbs) and a peel strength of 800 grams per inch. They have a cycle life of 20,000 operations, ensuring long-term performance with repeated use. The fasteners are mildew-resistant, UV-resistant, and able to operate within a wide temperature range of -60°F to 280°F, making them durable for both indoor and outdoor environments. With a break strength of 250 lbs for a 2-inch width, they offer sufficient support for the pressure applied during squatting.
For this design, we will use two Velcro straps, each 2 inches wide and 18-20 inches long, to cover half of the stomach area for easy fastening. These straps will be sewn onto the breathable fabric of the back posture device, providing secure attachment and allowing for adjustability. This configuration will ensure the belt remains stable and properly fitted around the user’s core during squats, offering both comfort and functionality.
2. Breathable fabric
The material chosen for the vest in the back posture support device is nylon mesh. This fabric was selected for its excellent breathability, lightweight nature, and durability, making it ideal for active use. The open mesh design enhances airflow, keeping the user cool during physical activity, while nylon’s inherent wear resistance and high tensile strength ensure the vest can withstand repeated use without losing its form. Additionally, nylon mesh is easy to clean, resistant to moisture, and provides flexibility, making it both comfortable and functional for use.
3. Gel cushioning
The gel cushioning serves the purpose of enhancing comfort and reducing pressure points in the back posture support device. It was chosen for its ability to conform to the body's contours while providing effective shock absorption, ensuring a comfortable fit during physical activities. This cushioning will be specifically applied to the area surrounding the semi-rigid spine support at the back, where it will provide additional comfort and protection.
