For it to effectively fulfill the clinical need the following specific characteristics are expected of the flat foot orthosis;
Arch Support: 
As a result, the foot orthosis should provide adequate foot structure off loading and pain relief as well as a functional medial arch height.
Cushioning: 
The materials used in the shoes are quite soft and therefore effectively cushions your feet's for the entire duration at which you use them, whether when walking or standing.
Durability:
 The materials which are used have to be durable so that they do not spoil in the near future.
Customizability:
 One of the objectives of the current study is to inform the development of a foot orthosis which needs to be produced in different sizes and molds depending on the foot and flatfoot deformity magnitude.
Lightweight and flexible:
This will help the orthosis to offer the needed support to prevent the interference with the function of the feet.
Breathability:
 It is necessary that its structure should allow the passages of air and should not stick on moisture or give out bad odor from feet.
Easy to use:
 While somewhat large, the insole can be removed if desired, and inserted into numerous types of shoes with no issues.
Adjustability
Parts that you can easily switch to increase or decrease the stringency or the firmness regarding degrees of flatfoot problems.
Biocompatible: 
Due to the possibility of irritation of the user at best, or an allergic reaction at worst, the biocompatibility of the materials used must be taken into account.

Medical devices must conform with the national and/or international standards and/or regulations or following specific criteria.
